11th Annual Celebration

Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 23rd & Saturday, May 24th

The 11th annual Opening of the Bay festivities will include a dockside gala on Friday evening sponsored by Boston Private Bank; on–line and silent auctions; a family festival on Saturday complete with children’s games, raffle, tours of the tall ship, music, food, drinks, and an array of activities, crafts, and entertainment for all ages.

Please support Opening of the Bay weekend with your contribution. The 2008 commemorative book will highlight the plans for the future as well as a schedule of Opening of the Bay events, auction catalog, and a list of Opening of the Bay sponsors, Founders, and Corporate Banner participants. Opening of the Bay proceeds enable DBMS to fulfill its mission to connect people of all abilities, ages, and means to Duxbury Bay through a variety of outstanding maritime programs.

Contribute Your Time

Listed below are some of the areas that DBMS is looking for your help:

• Help develop and organize 10 games for the children to enjoy during family day (looking for 2 or 3 people, need adult but great for HS kids, can be done in April)
• Set up game/craft area early on Saturday (7:30AM) (looking for 3 people, some table lifting required)
• Greet and guide the children on Saturday with a game or craft (2 hour shifts 11AM–1PM or 1PM–3PM, 14 yrs of age + ok!)

• Set-up Saturday morning (8AM) (looking for 4, some lifting required)
• Assist during the event on the table with serving the customers! Fun and Fast! (looking for 15–20 helpers Saturday from 11AM–1PM or 1PM–3PM, some adults needed but also good for 14 yrs + community service)
• General clean up 3PM Saturday (looking for 10 helpers, some lifting required)

• Assist during Tall Ship tours including donation collection and helping on the pier with on and off the ship. (2 hour shifts Saturday 11AM–1PM or 1PM–3PM)

Duxbury Bay Maritime School is renowned for its unparalleled volunteer support throughout the year and of course on this weekend. Invite family and friends to lend their time and talents to this wonderful non-profit event for DBMS. As you will see there is really something for everyone to do! The donation of ones time here at Duxbury Bay Maritime School is priceless for all the students here at the school.
