DBMS Rowers Compete at CRASH-B’s World Indoor Rowing Sprints

On Sunday, February 14th the Duxbury Bay Maritime School Rowers traveled to the Agganis Arena at Boston University to compete in the CRASH-B’s Sprints, the world’s largest indoor rowing competition. High School teams, college teams and master rowers from around the country competed as well as international teams from Mexico, Spain, Germany and China. DBMS was well represented by 18 adults and teens competing.

DBMS Rowing Coach Chris Lee rowed a personal best (7:05). Winter training paid off for the high school team with 7 of 9 rowers scoring their personal records for the grueling 2000m distance. On the girl’s side, first up was lightweight Hannah Murdock scoring her best time ever (8:54.6). Other lightweights were Emily Hansman (9:01.1) and Novice Veronica McCarthy with a PR (9:06.7). Junior Brighid Davis competed (8:16.0) along with newcomers Taylor Malm (8:45.6 PR) and Rebecca Gooley (9:42.0 PR). DBMS Alumni and current UMass rowers Amanda Doolin (7:17.0) and Ali DiMatteo (7:34.3) competed in the Women’s Open Event.

In the lightweight Junior Men’s division, Davis Muller broke the seven minute mark (6:57.8) for the first time. Freshman Kyle Archambault (7:46.8 PR) and Ben Potash (6.46.4) also competed as a lightweights. In the heavyweight division, Nick Tinkham posted a time of 7:08.7, a personal best for him.
